Snap Maps-style live map purpose-built for the water. Friends, shared spots, real-time check-ins, weather, and discovery — all on a single map that is the product.
Problem
Boaters and outdoor adventurers live across a half-dozen disconnected tools — group chats for plans, Find My for location, Navionics for the chart, weather apps for the forecast, Instagram for inspiration. Nothing pulls it together for the moment that matters: you're on the water, with people you love, and you need to find each other.
Approach
We built the map first and made it the entire product. Every other surface — chats, spots, profiles — supports the map. We took Snap Maps as the UX reference, then tuned for water-specific context: weather overlays, anchorage labels, opt-in location sharing, and curated spots from real users.
What we built
A native iOS and Android app with a real-time map, friend-first sharing, shared spots, group chats, and notifications. Built on Supabase with realtime subscriptions, Expo for cross-platform parity, and a PostHog instrumentation layer that drives the activation funnel.
Outcome
Live in the App Store and Google Play, currently launching into the British Virgin Islands as a beachhead market through partnerships with charter operators. Iterating weekly with real users on the water.
